Absolutely!  If you find yourself arbitrarily assigning permissions to your registered users and want to ensure certain credentials are met before you give greater permission levels, then you need this.  If you like the user management abilities that Joomla provides, but don't like searching in the backend, or aren't confident in your abilities to manage your users in the core Joomla user management system, then you need this.  If you are a manufacturer or warehouse that sells to distributors or others and you want to provide special access to those users, but require a completed application for distributorship prior to providing access, then this is definitely for you!

Distributor Application is designed to provide an extra layer of control to you, the site administrator.  Currently, there is no way to authorize additional permission levels in Joomla without an informal email contact or phone call requesting such.  Distributor Application provides that formal authorization procedure by presenting users that are Registered already on your site with a new form they may fill out to request further access to your site.
